Trithings keeps as little about you as it can, uses it only to run the site, and never sells it. This page explains what we hold, why, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
Trithings (trithings.com) is run by Brian McGuigan, in the Netherlands, who is responsible for your data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation. You can reach us at hello@trithings.com.
What we keep, and why
Without an account, the tools work entirely in your browser. Your weight, body measurements, gear, fuelling and race time settings are saved in your browser's own storage on your device, and are not sent to us.
The wind planner sends the address you search for, or your location rounded to about 1 km, through our server to fetch the forecast (address search from PDOK, weather from MET Norway). Your IP address is not passed on, and we do not store the address or location. Your browser remembers the place you picked, on your device only.
With an account, we keep:
- Your email address, and your password in a scrambled form we cannot read. If you sign in with Google, we get your email and name from Google instead, and no password.
- Your weight and body measurements (height, inside leg and shoulder width, only those you enter), which the tools use to work out tyre pressures, saddle height and bike size.
- The bikes, shoes and kit you add, with the details you give us about them.
- Your fuelling planner settings: which sports and for how long, how hard, how used you are to eating while training, and the size of your gels and drinks.
- Your race time settings: race distance, swim pace or test times, FTP (your hour power), riding position, course type and a recent run time.
- Whether you want deals and tips by email, and when you said so.
We use these to run your account and the tools you ask for. That is the basis for keeping them: we need them to give you the service.
We only email you deals and tips if you said yes, and you can change that any time on your account page. That is based on your consent. We always send emails about your account itself, such as confirming your address or resetting your password.
Like any website, the companies that host Trithings record basic technical details when you visit, such as your IP address and browser, to keep the service running and secure.
Who helps us run Trithings
We use a small number of services, which handle data on our behalf:
- Supabase stores accounts, body measurements and gear, on servers in Ireland.
- Vercel hosts the website.
- Resend sends our emails, from its EU region.
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google.
Some of these companies are based in the United States. Where data leaves the EU, they rely on the safeguards the GDPR requires, such as the EU's standard contractual clauses. We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.
Cookies and tracking
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The site stores only what it needs in your browser: your sign-in, and your measurements and gear if you use the tools without an account.
We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which shows us which pages are read and roughly where visitors come from. It does not use cookies and does not follow you across other websites, and we do not link it to your account.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data until you delete your account. When you do, your email, measurements and gear are removed straight away. Our service providers may keep technical logs for a short time after that, as part of running their services.
Your rights
You can, at any time:
- See and change your details and gear on the garage page.
- Download everything we hold about you, or delete your account, on the account page.
- Turn deals emails on or off, also on the account page.
- Ask us anything about your data, or object to how we use it, at hello@trithings.com.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Children
Trithings is not meant for anyone under 16.
Changes
If we change how we use your data, we will update this page and the date at the top. If the change matters, we will tell account holders by email.
